Barbara, a lovely friend of mine took me yesterday to visit a small cheese farm just outside the city of Certaldo. She told me that their "ricotta" is above all expectations and she was absolutely right. Silky, creamy and tasty!
This small farm called "Casanova" is run by the Trapanotto family. They do everything themselves from breeding the sheep to selling the final products in local shops and markets. I bought the ricotta (which disappeard from the fridge in two days!! ) and a four-month old pecorino, served with honey. Delicous and healty and certainly local!
The family accepts guests and random tourists who would like to visit the shop and taste the products. But be aware of the two guardian dogs you see below!!
