Under the Tuscan sun in October

Rolling hills. Iconic medieval villages. Stone farmhouses. Vineyards. Olive groves. Yes, that's Tuscany! I have been renting this fabulous house since last year inside this old 'borgo' (castle) just a few kilometers from the city of Cetona, right in the heart of Tuscany. Actually, this is the hole familys hideout for the weekends during winter time. Fresh air, friends, visiting wineyards, seeing new places and eating & drinking. The best part is that it takes only 1,5 hours to get here from Rome...door to door!

We really enjoyed a few wonderful days under the Tuscan sun lst weekend. It's October and the weahter is still fabulous. Temperatures are above +20 degrees. I have many good friends that have wonderful wineyards in Montepulciano and they produce top-notch wines. Unfortunatelly this year I missed the bigger grape harvest (La Vendemmia) in the area but I decided to join my neighbour to help him with the last grapes and...what do you know, he still does it the old fashion way! Trust me, it looked so easy but in order to pull down the handle and crush the grapes I really needed to hang on it with my hole body weight! But it sure was a fun experience!

If you would pass by Cetona some day, don't miss the saturday market on the main Piazza. This is where I get all the fresh veggies & fruits and I have my special guy for the local cheese. By now I even know many locals around so I can never escape without having an aperitivo at the Piazza in the gazing sun & talking about life! So, take a day off and spend it under the Tuscan sun -sample delicacies, sip some wine and take in the relaxed countryside feeling!
