October is here and it's time to fill your fridge with pomegranates or melograno as they are called in Italian! This is the month you will find these beautiful red fruits from every local outdoor market here in Rome. The best thing of living in a country with a mediterranian climate is that this time of the year you can pick them directly from the trees! The photos belove were taken a week ago at my friends garden in San Felice Circeo, a beautiful small costal place about 100 km south of Rome.
They are among the healthiest fruits on earth. Drinking pomegranate juice is a superfood good for our skin, hair and health and it's one of the few fruits whose juice is as beneficial as the fruit itself. This is because the peel contains the maximum amount of antioxidants which are released in abundance when the fruit is squeezed while juicing.

I have to admit that it's a bit of a work to deal with the little seeds, which is why, extracting its juice is the best way to utilize the benefits of pomegranate juice. Drinking it allows for a quick and easy assimilation of all the nutrients found in the bloodstream by the body and just a single glass of pomegranate juice can provide you with 40% of the daily requirement of folic acid and vitamins A, C, and E.

So fellows, when passing by a bar in Italy in October ask them for some freshly squeezed antioxidants (una spremuta di melograno, grazie!) for a healthy breakfast!
Buona giornata!
